15 October dedicated to women living in rural areas
Líneik Anna Sævarsdóttir, MP for Framsókn in the Northeast constituency, reminded parliament in today's parliamentary work that 15 October has ‘long been dedicated to women residing in rural areas at the United Nations, i.e. 1/5 of the world's population. On the occasion of the day, the executives of the United Nations drew attention more than once to the fact that globally, women and girls in rural areas often fall to the bottom when it comes to economic, social, and political factors, ranging from income and education to health and decision-making.'”
“If this group had good access to education and knowledge about innovation and resource utilisation, agricultural productivity would increase, food security would improve, and more could be saved from hunger. This work now falls under the work on the Sustainable Development Goals at the United Nations,
