17th June address from the chairman!
Dear Framsókn members!
The seventeenth of June has dawned, our Icelandic national holiday. Our country has taken on the green colour that suits it so well. And this does not just apply to fields, hillsides, and forests, but the green colour has also spread across society. Some refer to the green wave when discussing the success of Framsókn in the autumn and spring elections. A year ago, at the beginning of June, Framsókn's support was measured at 10.4%, which was slightly below our support in the 2017 parliamentary elections. During that term, we lived with poor opinion polls. In September 2020, exactly a year before the parliamentary elections, we measured 6.7% support in a Gallup poll. But we did not lose heart, did not forget our mission and origin, but continued undaunted to fight for our policies and ideals.
The success of Framsókn has not come about by chance. Behind this success is the tireless work of party members across the country. Ambitious candidates would achieve little if it were not for a strong grassroots movement that works day and night in the election campaigns for parliamentary and municipal elections.
On the national holiday in 2022, I look proudly at our achievements in Framsókn. Proud of the strong people the party has on board around the country. Proud of the energy within my people, people who never give up, people who work together to improve our society.
I am grateful to stand at the helm of this remarkable reform force that Framsókn is.
I wish you, dear comrades, a happy national holiday and hope that the summer will be fruitful and good for you.
Kind regards, Sigurður Ingi
