On the occasion
At a meeting of the national executive of Framsókn last Tuesday, the following was approved to be directed to constituency committees:
"Given the current circumstances, as there are now 24 days left to complete work on the electoral list, the national executive reiterates that each constituency conference has the authority to decide on the election methods, including deadlines for candidacy and deadlines from candidacy to constituency conferences, so that it is possible to set up electoral lists for the upcoming general elections. Furthermore, the national executive directs constituency committees to discuss at constituency conferences the issues that the party will present in the next elections."
At the national executive meeting, it was also discussed that due to the discussion about convening the party congress of Framsókn members, it is correct to clarify:
According to Framsókn's laws, the autumn meeting of the central executive convenes the party congress. This meeting must be convened with 30 days' notice. When that meeting makes a decision on the date of the party congress, the time period for members to submit credentials to the office, which is seven days, must be taken into account. Likewise, the party members must be given the opportunity to convene meetings to select their representatives, but it is required that this takes place at members' meetings or general assemblies. At least seven days must pass due to the notice of the general assembly. It is also mandatory that if three constituency conferences demand a party congress, the executive committee shall convene it.
The national executive also agreed that there should be an effort to hold an extraordinary central executive meeting in mid-October for the purpose of discussing the party's electoral emphasis. Once the decisions of the party's extraordinary constituency committees regarding the dates of constituency conferences due to candidate selection are available, that meeting can be called.
