Youth Centres and Youth Houses

In recent years, partly due to the enactment of laws on integrated services for children, the importance of leisure activities for children and young people has proven itself manifoldly. It has been amazing to watch the rise of this work and see it take on a larger role in societal discussions. The importance of the provision of this work is key to ensuring the wellbeing of children, and its legislation and continued development of inclusive work for all community groups is immensely important.

  • Framsókn wants to legislate for the operation of youth centres.

  • Framsókn wants to increase the number of youth houses and activity options for young people aged 16-25 years.

  • Framsókn emphasises that youth centres maintain strong specialised group work, in accordance with the needs at all times.

  • Framsókn considers it important that LGBTQ+ youth have a safe gathering place such as LGBTQ+ youth centres. It is important to support such work on a national scale.

  • Framsókn considers fieldwork by youth centres important and wants to ensure the operation of mobile youth centres, which play a key role in mapping risk behaviours of teenagers.

  • Framsókn believes there is a need to strengthen leisure activities for 10-12 year old children.


Sports and Youth Activities

The importance of sports and youth activities in prevention and a key factor in the nation's public health is undisputed. Efforts must continue to enhance opportunities for everyone to engage in sports and physical activity, looking at both public and elite sports. It must be ensured that participation opportunities in elite sports are equal, regardless of residence and economic status. It is important that the elite policy is based on diversity, ensures the participation of as many as possible, works against dropouts, and strengthens children and young people. Increasing funding for sports and youth activities is necessary to address travel costs and expenses of national team activities. Equality of children in participation in sports and youth activities must be ensured. Its importance when it comes to social development, integration into society and wellbeing is indisputable. Framsókn supports the development of an educational and knowledge centre for mental sports. Construction of the national hall has now commenced and similar efforts must be made with a national stadium for football.

  • Framsókn wants to further support the development of mental sports such as bridge and electronic sports, among other things, through the establishment of an elite fund.
