Prosperity and Equality

Framsókn wants to ensure that the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child regarding the child's right to maintain contact with both parents is respected, and that parental rights are honoured. A giant step was taken towards increased equality in society by ensuring free school meals in the country's elementary schools. Subsequently, it is reasonable to consider whether similar steps should be taken at other educational levels. The implementation of the Prosperity Act must continue, and the significance of early interventions must be further enhanced. We should support our children as soon as difficulties begin to surface. Let's ensure they receive services without waiting lists; children should never wait for services. The same applies to a group that has long been left behind in society, young individuals of secondary school age and up to 25 years of age who drop out of education. This group is immensely important and profitable for society to support as soon as possible; clear responsibility is lacking within the system and therefore must be backed with funding. Investing in children and young people is one of the most profitable investments for modern societies. There has been an incredible transformation in recent years, but we are just getting started.

  • Framsókn believes that waiting lists involving children should be eliminated. Children should not wait. It is important that children receive appropriate services and/or interventions immediately without a lengthy assessment process.

  • Framsókn proposes that educational materials in elementary schools be provided free of charge with the aim of ensuring equality in education.

  • Framsókn wants to promote civic awareness among young people and support their opportunities to participate in diverse community projects.

  • Framsókn believes that young people aged 16 to 25 are not adequately cared for. It is of immense importance for society as a whole to unite in keeping children and young people active. To this end, it is necessary to strengthen resources and early interventions at all educational levels and across all systems.

  • Framsókn wants a specific youth policy for Iceland to be developed.

  • Framsókn proposes that the curricula for nursery, primary, secondary, and music schools be reviewed and harmonised to increase and improve continuity in children's education.
