Primary School

The level of education and equality of access to learning is the best measure of prosperity in societies. Municipalities in the country are variably equipped to ensure statutory services in the nation's primary schools considering financial status, hence there is a need for increased involvement from the government to guarantee satisfactory teaching and the well-being of children. We must continue to develop an education system that serves all community groups. To achieve this, teachers and school staff must be provided with a working environment and services to help them cope with a changing societal landscape. In recent years, there has been success in increasing the number of students in teacher education, although challenges remain regarding the increase in newly graduated teachers to replace those retiring due to age. There needs to be follow-up with enhanced services for teachers, and a new service institution, the Centre for Education and School Services, will play a key role in this. It is also necessary to establish in law school services that ensure schools receive the services needed, and for children, not least, to have interventions that address challenges immediately, without assessments and long waiting times. It is also clear that a unified assessment process needs to be implemented throughout the schooling of primary school children, not only as an assessment tool for schools and authorities but also to monitor the progress of our children, so we can address those facing difficulties on their own terms.
